Owen Payette McGarry has been doing traditional hand poked tattoos since 2014. He came to tattooing through his interest in maritime folk art while working as a boatbuilder. His work references maritime folk art from around the North Atlantic; scrimshaw, graffiti, woodblock prints, needlework, painted ship’s chests, &c. to create work that connects to our past, and speaks to the present.
